| Death Personified! This was me, in all of my glory, before the Recovery Center. This was me, the rocket scientist, with the answers to it all, before the Recovery Center. This was me on the doorsteps of death before recognizing or acknowledging the reality of my situation. This was me, the active addict, who didn’t have a problem with drugs or alcohol according to my own thinking. This was me, the college graduate who did not have a problem according to the Gospel of Anthony, with drugs or alcohol. Who me, don’t they know who I am? Death personified the active addict. This is me after discovering the truth about the reality of my situation and circumstances at the Recovery Center. My recovery process did not begin with or end by “osmosis…” It began when I first became willing to accept the fact that I had a problem with my life as of a result of my drug and alcohol use, and that I did not have the answers for solving those related problems. I walked up that ramp and into Crisis, and said I need help! Help is exactly what I received from the Recovery Center. They made a complicated problem {ME} understand the simplicity of the Recovery process, and that most importantly, it would begin and end with me. That they would provide me with the tools and trades necessary to complete the job, but the work was mine. The Recovery Center made it easy for me to digest the meat of Recovery and Treatment in spite of my ability to make a mountain out of a mole hill and to figure out ways to find fault with just about anything and everything, other than myself. The Recovery Center did not promise to cure me from the disease of my active addiction by osmosis; it did not promise me to cure my family, social, financial issues or any of that, through osmosis, or magic pills, etc… As a matter of fact, they did not promise me anything! They simply made it possible for me to have a safe environment to begin the process of my Recovery and Treatment, and made available the tools that would be necessary to address the issues going on in my life that were related and associated with my active addiction. It was an investment period of 120 days of my life that has yielded results that can’t be adequately expressed by me in words; but today I am no longer Death Personified!
